Whether you enjoy it or not, shopping for apparel can be a complicated process. Sizes seem to change according to each store and maybe we’re not always the size we’d like to think we are. Once in the fitting room, going to get a new size can be tedious and shouting out for another size may be difficult or embarrassing. With the recent emergence of some pretty cool retail tech, the shopping experience just became alot more fun.

Mirror mirror on the wall, please request another size in this item…

In retail tech, RFID-enabled smart fitting rooms identify all the items you brought into the area and display them on the mirror. Whenever you want to try another size or color, you can quickly, easily and discreetly request it directly from the mirror. A staff member will receive the request and the location of the requested item, so it can be brought to the fitting room immediately.

Mirror mirror on the wall, please tell me what complements this item…

Once you have the right size you’re often faced with more challenging questions: What goes with this? Does it have complementing accessories? With all the choices available, within the store and from other stores, finding related items can be a real issue for shoppers. How can retailers get customers the information they need… fast?

Thanks to RFID-enabled fitting rooms, smart mirrors know which items the customer has brought in and will quickly display complementing items, accessories and a wide variety of other useful information.

According to DigitasLBi’s Connected Commerce survey, 62% of consumers purchase more items more often when provided with a personalized service. Training staff to up-sell is great but there is only so much they can do. Mirrors in smart fitting rooms instantly empower customers with valuable information, and with the help of RFID, allow the customers to request or located those items quickly and easily. For retail shoppers, this is no fairy tale.
